In this policy forum from Oct. 28, 2015, Weston Fellow Mohammed Dajani joined with Executive Director Robert Satloff to explore the complex dimensions of Arab and Palestinian engagement with the Holocaust. The event was spurred by controversy over Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s recent comments concerning the role of Hajj Amin al-Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem, in the Holocaust. While that firestorm will likely burn out, Satloff and Dajani saw it as an opportunity for a learning moment. Dajani is the founder of the Wasatia movement of moderate Islam. Satloff, the Howard P. Berkowitz Chair in U.S. Middle East Policy, is the author of “Among the Righteous: Lost Stories from the Holocaust’s Long Reach into Arab Lands” (2006), which was also made into a PBS documentary.
